Awhile back, somewhere around 2007 Evan asked me to take him to the “Pretty City”. Well, here we are eleven years later and… we finally took him!!! For summer vacation this year we decided to explore New York City. It was a fast & furious, five day, nonstop sightseeing expedition. We visited the Statue of Liberty, the 911 Memorial, walked the Highline, trekked to the top of the Empire State Building, scarfed down a NYC Hot Dog, took a wildly obnoxious Bus Tour (which the kids loved of course), ran through the Natural History Museum at lightning speed, explored Central Park, took pictures at the FRIENDS Apartment Building, ate dinner in Chelsea Market, took a tour of Madison Square Garden, spent way too much money at the Lego Store in Rockefeller Center, stood in the middle of Times Square, ate Pizza too many times to count, went to the 4th of July Yankee Game, and both kiddos learned to hail a cab! After all of that my absolute favorite part of the trip was when we caught a water taxi from South Street Seaport to Brooklyn. I LOVE Brooklyn!!! It was the most beautiful view of Manhattan I’ve ever seen. We took time to explore the iconic DUMBO Neighborhood, ate a lobster roll under the Brooklyn Bridge, went to check out Jane’s Carousel, and we finished it off with a Coke Float from an old fashioned ice cream shop on the pier. It was the most magical afternoon, that I never wanted to end. I kept trying to remind myself to take it all in… but the days just continued to fly by. I can’t wait for our next adventure…
